What the Fire Code Actually Requires
Size Requirements
Minimum 300mm × 450mm (12" × 18"). White reflective background, red lettering minimum 50mm (2") height.
Placement Rules
Posted at each entrance to the fire route and at intervals not exceeding 15 metres. Visible from both directions of travel.
Material Standard
Retro-reflective sheeting (Type I minimum). Must remain legible after 5+ years of outdoor exposure. Aluminum substrate required.
